Important copyright information

All papers published in the CORERJ remain the copyright of their authors.

Great care has been taken to ensure that papers published in CORERJ do not infringe upon the copyright of any third party. If there is reason to believe you or someone else’s copyrighted material has been used without permission or acknowledgement, please contact the CORERJ Editorial Board directly: corerj@educ.ac.uk. We will remove any material found to be the copyright of a third party.

Open access policy

Articles published in CORERJ will fall under the Creative Commons (CC) Attibution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported Licence. The CC has outlined an open access policy that CORERJ adheres to. In brief, published articles may be freely shared as long as there is proper acknowledgement of their original authorship and publication.
Any requests for more substantial use of material should be directed to the author as copyright holder. Authors’ emails are listed on the page of their abstracts. In cases where there is no contact information available, the CORERJ Editorial Board will pass along requests.

All papers that undergo the open-review process, along with public commentary will be archived. Although the commentary feature will be de-activated upon (i.e., it will no longer be possible to comment on the articles), comments made during the review period will be preserved and accessible for future viewing.

Author responsibilities

Before submission, authors should be aware of their faculty’s policies and regulations in terms of dissertation submission (e.g., definitions of ‘work being an original contribution to knowledge’ or ‘self-plagiarism’) and discuss any issues of uncertainty with their supervisor. Authors are also responsible for ensuring that there is no conflict of interest associated with publishing their work or infringement of copyrighted material.

Before sending your manuscript to the Editorial Board, please read the following terms and conditions and fill out the online submission form.

*Terms and conditions

You will be asked (in the online submission form) to agree to the following terms and conditions when submitting your manuscript. Please read carefully and make sure you understand them in full. Terms and conditions for open reviewing can be found on the open-review website.

Before submitting a paper, I understand that it is my responsibility to know my faculty’s or department’s academic policies (e.g., definitions of ‘work being an original contribution to knowledge’ or ‘self-plagiarism’) to ensure the publication of my work is not in violation of them.
I understand that a successful paper will undergo two forms of review (outlined on the Submissions page) before publication.
Should my paper successfully pass the first review stage, I will be given three weeks to make amendments before it proceeds to the second review stage. At this latter phase, my work will be displayed (non-anonymously) on CORERJ’s website for a two-month period, where registered open reviewers will comment on my paper and contribute to the decision of its eligibility for publication. I am aware that it is not possible to make any changes to my work during this period, although I am free to make and respond to comments about my work.
I understand that I am entitled to request for my paper to be removed during the open-review period. Should I decide to take this action, I understand my paper will no longer be considered for publication; however, as CORERJ adheres to the Creative Commons (CC) license, a copy of my work (with comments before it was withdrawn) will be digitally archived and publically accessible through CORERJ’s website. Should I wish for my paper to be removed from the archives, I will need to indicate this request to the CORERJ Editor.
Although open reviewers contribute to the decision of my paper’s acceptance (through a process of weighting comments that are for or against its publication), I understand the CORERJ Editorial Board has the right to override these decisions in cases the quality of my article is compromised (e.g., ethical issues, detection of plagiarism, or significant methodological flaws)
If my paper is accepted, I understand that amendments may be needed (based on comments generated from open reviewers) and will be given one month to make the necessary changes.
At either selection stage, I have the right to make an appeal to the CORERJ Editor if I disagree with my paper’s status (e.g., being rejected) or recommended changes. In such cases, a third reviewer will examine my paper to help make complete the decision process.
By my paper being accepted for publication, I grant CORERJ the exclusive license to publish my work(s) online within a public domain in return to retain copyright of my material and the reuse of it (e.g., posting it on an institutional repository or personal website) as long as the proper citation of its publication is made. The publication of my work will adhere to the open-access policy detailed under the CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported Licence.
I am aware that articles published on the CORERJ website display authors’ full names, emails, and affiliated departments/faculties and institutions. If I wish for my personal details (other than my full name) not to be displayed on my publication, I must notify the CORERJ Editorial Board of this request.
I am aware that there are potential risks associated with any form of online publishing, such as plagiarism by others. I further understand that CORERJ will do all it can to protect my intellectual property (e.g., restricting access to articles in the open-reviewing stage by requiring users to complete a registration process), although it cannot take responsibility should plagiarism occur.
I am aware that any images, symbols and other copyrighted material that are not my original work can only be used with permission granted by its owner (e.g., author or publisher). I will be required to declare the use of copyright material, in addition to agreeing to the terms and conditions outlined above, when completing the online submission formand understand that the personal information I provide in this form will be treated as strictly confidential and handled in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.
